King, Barry Joseph age 64, of Minnetonka, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2019 surrounded by family. Barry was born on May 12, 1954 in Minneapolis. Preceded in death by his father, Robert King. Survived by wife of 36 years Cathy Macdonald; sons Ian (Erika) and Colin (Annie) King; grandchildren Norah, Owen, and Milo King; mother Donie and siblings Robert Jr., Laura, Gina, Casey, David, Liz, and Margaret. Barry had many accomplishments in his lifetime, but knew that the measure of a life is not in what you do, but who you are. Family was Barry's center. He was most proud of his two sons, Ian and Colin, and the men that they have become. He loved his wife, Cathy, with all his big heart. Barry and Cathy's marriage was an example to all, a promise fulfilled to always find their way together with respect and deepest love for one another. Barry took joy in being one of eight children raised by the best parents, Bob and Donie. They taught him the importance of hard work and integrity along with a love of reading and learning. Anyone who spent five minutes with Barry was drawn in by his easy manner, humor, respect, and generosity. He was an amazing, intuitive, compassionate soul. His care and concern for others was felt even in his last hours. He died with immense grace, his last gift to all of us. Memorial gathering to be held Friday, April 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel followed by a brief service at 11:30 a.m. to honor Barry.
