Langfeld, Margaret (Casey) age 76, of Blaine, passed peacefully on April 6, 2019. Preceded in death by her parents William and Clara Casey. She is survived by her husband Jim, siblings John (Barb) Casey, Claire (Walter) Matthews, Bill (Jo) Casey; children Jim (Tandra), Joe (Caroline), Michelle Samuels (Mike), Danielle Udean (Darrin), Adam (Kari), and Tom; 14 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Margaret grew up on a farm in Darwin, MN and married Jim, her high school sweetheart, in 1963. First elected to the Blaine City Council in 1976, she went on to chair the Anoka County Board of Commissioners. As a pioneer for human rights and religious freedom, she was the first female Blaine City Council member and first woman chair of the Anoka County Board. Margaret was a co- founder of Alexandra House, Anoka County Children and Family Council, Creating Community, and Anoka County Economic Development Partnership; past President of the Association of MN Counties, MN Association of Government Investments, Metropolitan Library Service Agency, Metropolitan 911 Telephone Board, Metropolitan Mosquito Control District, past Chair of Metronet, Alliance for a Violence Free Anoka County, Metropolitan Emergency Services Board, WCCO Radio Good Neighbor, ARC Legislator of the Year, North Metro Business and Professional Women's Club "Woman of the Year" and Morris Hurch Award winner among others. Closest to her heart was her time in service at the Church of Saint Paul, where she was a founding member, leader in Sacrament of Initiation programming, Family Formation core team, Women at the Well, Companions in the Heart of Jesus and past music ministry member. She also served on the boards of Saint Paul's Outreach, the Way of the Shepherd Catholic Montessori School and as Vice-Chair of the Archdiocese of St. Paul & Minneapolis Pastoral Council. Memorials preferred to Alexandra House, Human Life Alliance or the Catholic Church of Saint Paul. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11 AM, Saturday, April 13, 2019 with visitation two hours prior at the CATHOLIC CHURCH OF ST.
