Debing, Gerald Gene age 86, of Bloomington, MN passed away Thursday, February 7, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family and dog, Freddie. Jerry was born on April 21, 1932 in Hunter, ND to Roy and Regina (Siegert) Debing. The family settled in Page where Jerry completed grade school and graduated from high school. Upon graduation, Jerry attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN where he majored in music. After graduating from St. Olaf, Jerry entered the Army where he served his country with pride and honor in the infantry, serving in South Korea. After being discharged from the Army, Jerry married Cleona Haman. He began working in the supermarket industry and eventually became a store manager. Jerry joined Country Club Markets and worked there for over 20 years making many lifelong friends. After Country Club, Jerry used his grocery expertise until his retirement at age 80. Jerry's favorite diversion from work was the cabin and it was there that he seemed to enjoy himself the most. Fishing, hunting, boating, cutting the grass, playing cards, visiting friends, and having an ever growing family visit was a slice of heaven for Jerry. Jerry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Cleona; sons Darcy (Mary) and Darren, and daughter Dana; grandchildren Anthony Debing (Amanda), Adam Debing (Stephanie), Tom Mock, Trent Mock and Brittanie Debing, 8 great-grandchildren, brother Douglas Debing (Jane) along with many nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry and sister Marlys Olson. Services will be held on Thursday, February 14 at the Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel, 2300 W. Old Shakopee Rd., Bloomington, 55431 beginning at 2pm. Visitation begins at 1pm.
