Angelos, Stamata Age 86, formerly of Minneapolis passed away peacefully on December 8th, 2018. Born November 20, 1932 in Vohariko, Corinth, Greece. Stamata came to America with her uncles, Christ and Mike Balafas in April of 1956. She worked at a shirt factory and then as a seamstress at a sail boat factory while learning English at Mary Miller Vocational School in downtown Minneapolis. She met her beloved husband, Pat, at a church dance and they were married in 1960. They had two children, Dena and Christ. Stamata worked alongside her husband at their grocery and butcher shop, Pat's Grocery on 32nd and Cedar in Minneapolis until Pat's death in 1982. Stamata was an active member of St Mary's Greek Orthodox Church. She was a member of the Daughters of Penelope and the Philoptochos Society. She so dearly and fiercely loved her Lord, her church, her children, her six grandchildren and her many friends. She was a sweet, joyful, loving "little Greek lady". Preceded in death by her husband, Pericles "Pat", brothers, Dino, Mihalis, Christos, and sister, Voula. Survived by her children, Dena (Deano) Angelos Tortorelis, Christ (Dena) Angelos; grandchildren Athanasia "Sia", George, Pericles "Perry" Tortorelis and Pericles "Perry", Constantine "Gus", and Sophia Angelos, Sister Stella (Elias), Brothers Vlasie and Vasilie (Maria) Kehagias and many nieces and nephews and cousins. Memorials preferred to St Mary's Greek Orthodox Church. Funeral service 12pm Mon. Dec. 17th at St Mary's Greek Orthodox Church, 3450 Irving Ave So, Minneapolis.
