The peak for viewing the Lyrid Meteor Shower occurred early this morning.Those who ventured outdoors where skies were clear got to see roughly 10 to 20meteors per hour burning up in the Earth's atmosphere. While the peak haspassed, you can still view the meteor shower until April 25.

The Lyrids are the oldest known meteor showers with sightings dating backmore than 2,600 years. They are also one of the most frequently viewed meteorshowers since they occur every year around April 16-25.
