An 80-year-old man who left a southern Minnesota assisted living facility late Saturday was found alive the following afternoon, authorities said.

Fire, police and other personnel searched Sunday for Charles Armstrong, who authorities say left Gunderson Gardens on Huseth Street in Kenyon.

Police said they learned that at one point Armstrong had called a family member but was confused about where he was.

"Mr. Armstrong was located alive at 3:10 p.m. here in town today," read a Facebook posting Sunday from police.

Police added that he was receiving medical attention for unspecified needs.

"We are so thankful for everyone who physically helped with the search, helped with thoughts and prayers, and good suggestions as to where to look, etc.," the posting continued. "It takes a village, and we certainly had that here today."
