As anticipated, the selection committee named seven Big Ten teams to the NCAA tournament, tying the conference with the Big 12 for most bids. A look at the league's draws:

(1) Wisconsin • 31-3

West Region • vs. (16) Coastal Carolina

After notching the Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles, the Badgers and their hyper-efficient offense were rewarded by sneaking onto the top line for the first time in school history, manning the No. 1 seed in the West.

(4) Maryland • 27-6

Midwest • vs. (13) Valparaiso

Popular opinion is that the Terrapins got the shaft after falling from an expected 3 seed to a 4. Maryland faces 13th-seeded Valparaiso in the first round but ultimately will need to go through Kentucky to reach the Final Four.

(7) Iowa • 21-11

South • vs. (10) Davidson

For the first time since 2006, the Hawkeyes weren't sitting on the bubble, sweating it out. Iowa nabbed a seven seed, although it faces 10th-seeded Davidson, a three-pointer-happy team many consider under-seeded.

(7) Michigan State • 23-11

East • vs. (10) Georgia

Nearly upsetting Wisconsin in Sunday's dramatic Big Ten tournament final didn't seem to have much bearing on the Spartans' draw. Michigan State will get 10th-seeded Georgia in Charlotte and could face Virginia — perhaps the strongest No. 2 seed — in the second round.

(9) Purdue • 21-12

Midwest • vs. (8) Cincinnati

Purdue also in favorite Kentucky's region? The Boilermakers will be tested early. If they manage to get through eighth-seeded Cincinnati — a matchup that promises low scores and some serious defense — they'll face the undefeated Wildcats next.

(10) Ohio State • 23-10

West • vs. (7) VCU

Without many impressive victories to tout, the 10th-seeded Buckeyes took the lowest seed of the Thad Matta era. But no reason for the public to suffer — Ohio State and D'Angelo Russell's matchup vs. 10th-seeded VCU's "havoc" style should be highly entertaining in the first round.

(10) Indiana • 20-13

Midwest • vs. (7) Wichita State

The Hoosiers are in another position altogether. After a chaotic offseason, a rocky nonconference performance and a slumping regular-season finish, Indiana looked to be on the bubble. Instead, the Hoosiers came in strong as a 10th seed and set up a highlight-worthy head-to-head with point guards Yogi Ferrell and Wichita State's Fred VanVleet.
