Medica, Minnetonka, named Mark Baird chief financial officer. Baird was the senior vice president of finance and has been with Medica for 13 years.

Wireless Ronin Technologies, Minnetonka, named John Walpuck chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Walpuck has served as an executive officer for companies ranging in size from start-up to more than $20 billion in revenue.

Moving up

Western Bank, St. Paul, named Cindy Carlson and Carol Maloney senior vice presidents of commercial banking. Carlson joined the bank in 1983 and Maloney in 1999. Western Bank named John Bennett senior vice president of nonprofit banking and business development. Bennett joined the bank in 2007 and is on the board of the Midway Chamber of Commerce. Western Bank also named Isaac Graham vice president of commercial banking.

Eaton named Mary Jo Surges vice president and general manager of the filtration business. Surges has been at Eaton for 11 years and has worked for Parker Hannifin, Pentair and Actuant.

Nina Hale, Minneapolis, named Luke Schlegel director of analytics. Schlegel was a senior analytics manager and joined the agency in 2011. Nina Hale also named Allie Graupmann account manager and Brennan Brooks senior paid search manager.

On the move

Grant Thornton named Erich Pugh partner. Pugh was a partner at Ernst & Young and is a certified public accountant in Minnesota and Illinois. He is a graduate of Winona State University and received his master's degree from the University of Minnesota.

Doran Companies, Bloomington, named Seazon Patterson corporate controller. Patterson was a financial controller at Minnesota Limited and has worked for Abelard Construction and Alpine Affiliates.

Blue Zones, Minneapolis, named Gwen Martin managing director. Martin was an executive at Salo and co-founder of NumberWorks. She is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas.

Bell State Bank, Golden Valley, named Jason Hoopman user support supervisor. Hoopman was an IT project coordinator at Cargill and has worked for UnitedHealth Group, Eaton and Allianz Life.
