Authorities said Tuesday that the motorcyclist who struck a vehicle from behind in Lakeville over the weekend died from head injuries.
James A. Batten II, 26, of Claremont, Minn., was killed early Saturday evening on Cedar Avenue just north of 202nd Street, according to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.
Batten hit the vehicle ahead of him as it was turning right from 202nd onto Cedar, police said, sending Batten to the pavement.
The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, died of internal head injuries, the medical examiner's office said.
Adult riders in Minnesota are not required to wear a helmet.
