The body found by two boys Saturday afternoon in the Mississippi River in St. Paul was identified Sunday as that of David Frederick Wandtke, 52, of St. Paul.

Wandtke had been missing since Feb. 14. His death is not considered suspicious, police said.

The boys found Wandtke's body in the water along a Union Pacific railroad bridge in the area of Joy Avenue and Water Street W., about 1 p.m. Saturday. St. Paul firefighters and Ramsey County sheriff's deputies recovered it.

Wandtke was mentioned in a story on missing people in the Star Tribune March 19. He had told his wife of 11 years that he was going to the grocery store when he disappeared. About 10,000 people are reported missing in Minnesota every year.
