Mental health services for students expand

The Burnsville-Eagan-Savage school board has approved expanding District 191's partnership with Headway Emotional Health Services to provide students and families with counseling services, beginning this fall.

The collaboration will add four mental health professionals across the district, bringing the total number of counselors to 13.

The partnership was started two years ago in response to the district's growing need for mental health services.

Services are free for those without insurance, but Headway bills private insurance companies or medical assistance for families who have coverage.

The district also has medical and dental services available at Diamondhead Education Center through other partnerships.
