A 22-year-old Minneapolis man has been charged with intent to deliver narcotics after roughly 25 pounds of suspected crystal methamphetamine was found in his vehicle during a traffic stop over the weekend in suburban Chicago, authorities said.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office put the street value of the drug haul at $1.75 million.

According to the Sheriff's Office:

Shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday, Roberto Ortiz was pulled over in an SUV on Interstate 90, for suspected traffic violations.

Ortiz allowed the officer to search his vehicle. Uncovered was suspected crystal meth under the front driver seat and in a box in the back of the vehicle.

Ortiz was arrested and has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. He posted bond Monday and was set free pending a court appearance Friday, a sheriff's spokeswoman said.
