As if the flood in Fargo-Moorhead weren't enough to keep weather watchers busy, a blizzard arriving in Minnesota today could push as much as a foot of snow into central Minnesota.

The Twin Cities are likely to see 3 to 5 inches by Tuesday, with the larger amounts more likely to the northwest, said Tony Zaleski, a National Weather Service forecaster.

Snow should start falling in the western suburbs this afternoon, Zaleski said. Much of the snow will fall during the night, followed by strong winds early Tuesday morning, he said.

The storm will be worse farther to the northwest, where St. Cloud could get 8 to 10 inches and Alexandria 10 to 12 inches, he said.
