Passing on the shoulder. An officer observed a driver pass the car ahead of her, which was turning left, on the shoulder of Hilton Trail at 66th Street. The officer told the driver he was surprised she did that in front of a police car. She explained she didn’t see him and usually doesn’t do it there, but that the woman in front of her was “driving so slow.”

WEST LAKELAND TOWNSHIP

MARCH 2

Road rage. A man reportedly drove on the shoulder to pass the vehicle of a driver he said had cut him off and then slammed on its brakes on Interstate 494. The other driver also reported that the man displayed a knife to her while both were at a stoplight. The man confronted the driver in a nearby parking lot, opening her driver’s-side door but leaving after hearing her on the phone with a police dispatcher. Police contacted the man and advised him his actions bordered on disorderly conduct.
