The Rochester City Council asked for more information Monday after hearing a consultant's report envisioning a $75 million, 6,200-seat sports and entertainment arena for downtown.
The stadium could be built within two years, according to the consultant, Hammes Co. The council asked staff and the consultant to report back with financing options for the stadium.
The new arena would sit next to the city's Civic Center, which is undergoing $85 million in renovations.
The new facility could host anything from trade shows to musical acts and sports, including the possible revival of a Rochester hockey team in the United States Hockey League. The city had a team until 2002, when it folded.
