other Washington County races

Along with casting votes in statewide, legislative, county and municipal races, Washington County voters also will be electing judges in the 10th Judicial District, and Washington Conservation District supervisors.

The 10th Judicial District includes eight counties, with 45 judges — including 10 in Washington County, half of whom are seeking re-election to six-year terms.

Judges B. William Ekstrum, Gregory Galler, Richard Ilkka and Ellen Maas are running unopposed.

Judge Susan Miles (keepjudgesusanmiles.com/), first elected in 1996, is facing a challenge from Forest Lake attorney Julie LaFleur (www.julieforjudge.com/). The candidates were featured in a forum by the League of Women Voters that can be viewed at www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2m4jVCbsZg.

Jim Levitt and Louise Smallidge are seeking re-election to the Washington Conservation District. The district manages and directs conservation programs and assists landowners in conserving soil and water resources. Levitt is running in District 2, a slice of the western part of the county that includes Oakdale, Lake Elmo, Pine Springs and Birchwood Village. Smallidge serves District 4, the southern tier of the county that includes Cottage Grove and Denmark Township.
