A gunshot wound is what killed a woman who was found over the weekend barely alive in a car in St. Paul, police said Monday.

The woman, British Autavia Morris-Rice, 22, of St. Paul, was found in the car late Saturday parked near Robert and George streets, police said. She died Sunday at Regions Hospital.

Arrested Sunday morning in connection with the case, but not on suspicion of murder, was a 24-year-old St. Paul man. He is suspected of felony assault and aiding an offender to avoid arrest, according to the Ramsey County jail log.

The car was against a fence on the sidewalk, and Morris-Rice was in the front seat and unresponsive, police added.

Anyone with information about this case is urged to call police at 651-266-5650.
