The frozen body of a 23-year-old man was found Tuesday in a field in Faribault.

A person who works nearby found the man's body about 2 p.m. lying in the snow in a field south of 30th Street NW and Industrial Drive. The man's name has not been released.

Faribault investigators say footprints in the snow indicate the man, who lives and works in the area, walked to the field where he was discovered. There was no obvious signs of trauma and it isn't known yet whether the recent extreme cold temperatures played a role in his death, police said.

"Our department is actively investigating the case and will work with the medical examiner to learn the actual cause of death, which we hope can bring some sense of closure to the family in this young man's tragic death," said Police Chief Andy Bohlen.
