A spring-like storm with high winds swept through the Twin Cities metro area Monday night, leaving about 13,000 people without power.
Xcel Energy crews expected to work through the night to restore power lost during the storm, said company spokeswoman Patti Nystuen. By 9:30 p.m. only about 6,700 customers remained without power.
Wind gusts hit up to 55 mph during the storm, which dumped between 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch in most of the metro area, said Jim Richardson, National Weather Service forecaster. Some parts of central Minnesota got as much as an inch, he said.
Minnesota's dry landscape could get another hit of moisture on Tuesday. Afternoon showers are likely, Richardson said.
