July 29, 2012 at 1:53AM

On any given night, at least 2,500 Minnesota youth are homeless. About 550 are under age 18; another 1,950 are young adults age 18 to 21.Six out of 10 are girls.

Two-thirds are black, American Indian, Hispanic or mixed race.

Seven out of 10 grew up in Minnesota.

Most -- 65 percent -- grew up living with biological parents.

Twelve percent identified themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual or unsure about their sexual orientation.

22 percent had been attacked or beaten while they were homeless.

One in four had slept outside at least one night in a month.

Nearly half reported a significant mental health problem.

Over a third had been in a correctional facility.

Almost half had been pregnant or made someone else pregnant.
