Ride ’em, cowboys

Most of us know of “Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid” through the Paul Newman/Robert Redford flick, but the outlaws’ real story doesn’t need movie stars to be compelling. This “American Experience” documentary uses the duo’s exploits as a window into our country’s significant changes in the 1890s, with expert commentary from historians. 8 p.m., TPT, Ch. 2

All hail the Queen

Queen Latifah’s stint as a talk show host pales in comparison with her delicate turn in 1998’s “Living Out Loud,” an underrated treat about how music and the kindness of strangers can make life worth living. Holly Hunter and Danny DeVito are equally terrific. 8:45 p.m., Starz Comedy

Children of war

“Frontline” continues to invest in expensive, perilous, important journalism with “Syria’s Second Front”, a heartbreaking look at how battles between rebel forces and extremist Islamic fighters have helped lead to the death of more than 2,000 children in Aleppo, Syria. Yes, I said children. 9 p.m., TPT, Ch. 2
