'TRIBUTES'

Wednesday-Saturday: Featured on this week's Osmo Vänskä-led Minnesota Orchestra program is the world premiere of "Tributes," a violin concerto written by Chicago composer James Stephenson for his friend Jennifer Frautschi that dances with a trio of Stephenson's illustrious musical predecessors: Sergei Prokofiev, Louis Armstrong and John Adams. Complementing the new concerto are excerpts from Alberto Ginastera's 1943 score for the ballet "Estancia," a portrait of rural Argentina, and Beethoven's "Pastoral" Symphony, the most relaxed and poetic of his inexhaustible nine. (7:30 p.m. Wed., 11 a.m. Thu., 8 p.m. Fri.-Sat. $26-$89. Orchestra Hall, 11th St. and Nicollet Mall, Mpls. 612-371-5656 or www.minnesotaorchestra.org.)
