Type: Mixed use

Single family lots: 281

Commercial: 90,870 square feet

Developer: Hans Hagen Homes

Details: Fridley-based builder Hans Hagen Homes has received concept-plan approvals for one of the biggest master-planned developments in the history of east suburban Lake Elmo: the 157-acre Inwood Creek.

Located in what is now a farm field just north of the Eagle Creek Business Park, the planned unit development is anchored by the Inwood Village residential neighborhood of 281 "lifestyle homes." They are described as one-story, single-family homes on detached lots that offer the "conveniences of a townhome." They have private outdoor patios and yards for gardening, with a homeowners association to maintain the exteriors, which will vary based on home buyers' preferences.

The Inwood South section, in the development's southeastern corner, will offer 144 units of rental townhouses. Inwood Cove, a 120-unit senior townhouse building, is adjacent to the west. Its commercial element, Inwood Market & Shops, is planned to run along Inwood and would include 90,870 square feet of restaurants, shopping and other retail uses.

Also part of the plans is a bike trail system.

Hans Hagen indicated the single-family home neighborhood be constructed first, with the multifamily and commercial phases built out as market conditions demand.

The proposal now moves on the preliminary plan and rezoning approval phase.
