Advance Auto Parts Inc. announced Thursday that it will shut its corporate office in Bloomington in September 2015 as part of a company reorganization after two major acquisitions.

The decision means that Minnesota will lose about 100 jobs, including the chief executive and chief financial officer positions.

The Bloomington office closing will not affect any of Advance Auto's store locations, spokeswoman Shelly Whitaker said. The company has 52 auto parts stores in Minnesota that operate under the names Advance Auto and Carquest. Advance bought General Parts International, the parent of Carquest and wholesale distributor Worldpac, in January.

Advance Auto Parts, based in Roanoke, Va., is one of the largest sellers of aftermarket auto parts in the nation. It has 5,276 stores around the country that cater to both professional and novice mechanics.

Advance Auto Parts is reorganizing as it works to fully integrate General Parts International and Carquest.

The company will create two corporate "store support centers" — one in Roanoke and one in Raleigh, N.C. The company's CEO and CFO will move to Raleigh, where Carquest's headquarters were before its acquisition.

After the transition, which will take 12 to 18 months, there will be about 1,600 employees in the Roanoke Valley area and about 600 employees in Raleigh. Most of the remaining 71,800 employees work in stores and will not be affected by the corporate consolidation.

"These changes will provide increased support to our field, commercial and store teams; strengthen collaboration among corporate team members; facilitate more efficient decisionmaking and enhance our ability to serve customers," CEO Darren Jackson said in a statement.
