MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS

Tonka Bay Equity Partners, Minnetonka, announced the acquisition of Corwil Technology Corp., a Milpitas, Calif.-based provider of assembly and test services for integrated circuits. Tonka Bay partnered with investor/CEO Matt Bergeron and co-founders Rob Corrao and Finn Wilhelmsen in this transaction. Bergeron has been appointed president and a member of the board of directors of Corwil.

NEW PRODUCTS

DiaMedica, Plymouth, has received regulatory approval to start a 76-subject PhaseI/II clinical trial for DM-199, a drug it is developing for treatment of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. The clinical trial will be held in the Netherlands.

Monteris Medical Corp., Plymouth, said that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a second 510(k) clearance for its MRI-guided ablation device for brain tumors and other lesions. The NeuroBlate System is a second-generation device employing a surgical laser to ablate (lethally heat) diseased brain tissue with updated visualization provided by active MRI.

PERSONNEL

U.S. Bancorp, Minneapolis, has named Rick Aneshansel president of U.S. Bank Home Mortgage, succeeding Dan Arrigoni, who will retire June 30. Aneshansel was previously chief financial officer for U.S. Bank Home Mortgage. Arrigoni has led the mortgage company for U.S. Bank and its predecessor companies since January 1996, following a merger with Investors Bank.
