Summit Brewing Co. said Thursday that after 14 years of the same, distinctive logo, it is switching to a more stylized version that retains the barley, hops and diamond motif.

St. Paul-based Summit’s rebranding will launch April 1 during the Twins’ opening day at Summit’s Townball Tavern at Target Field. The logo will debut on Meridian Session Ale, the new brew in Summit’s Union series. The rest of the rebranding will roll out later this year and in 2014.

The label’s new look “is an evolution of Summit’s past two logos,” the brewery said in a news release. Summit’s original logo was redesigned in 1999 when the company opened a new brewery.

“With the expansion of the brewery 14 years later, we felt it was time again to update our look,” said Mark Stutrud, Summit’s founder.

Started in 1986, Summit is Minnesota’s largest craft brewer. The company is working with design firm Duffy & Partners to redesign the brand, beginning with the new logo.
