Columbia Heights senior basketball player Jacob Thomas verbally committed to coach Dan Monson and Long Beach State on Saturday.
Thomas, a guard who made the Star Tribune all-metro third team as a junior, called Hylanders coach Willie Braziel to announce his decision.
"As I predicted he would, he fell in love with California," Braziel said. "And Long Beach is a good fit for him. They have a need he can fill right away."
