Adding two more teams to the NFL playoff field potentially makes for a more exciting postseason, although based on recent history don't expect the No. 7 seed to be any better than slightly above average. Here's how the No. 7 seeds would have played out the past four NFL seasons:

2019

NFC: L.A. Rams 9-7

AFC: Pittsburgh 8-8

2018

NFC: Vikings 8-7-1

AFC: Pittsburgh 9-6-1

2017

NFC: Detroit 9-7

AFC: Baltimore 9-7
