It may not help get her a slot at the Pitchfork Music Fest, but Dessa should get a nice bit of exposure among music industry professionals by debuting her new song at Billboard.com today instead of another underground music blog. The trade magazine's site has the exclusive song premiere of "Warsaw," the first single off the Minneapolis rap songstress' next album, which now has an official release date as well as a title: "Parts of Speech" will be out June 25 via Doomtree Records. That's the cover posted to the right.

A dark and almost frantic-sounding track with a Nine Inch Nails-like heavy beat and one very noticeable f-bomb (sorry, NPR!), "Warsaw" was produced by Dessa's Doomtree cohort Paper Tiger. "I put the beat on repeat and drank my share of Jameson to get it done," she told Billboard.

Something else Doomtree fans may want to hear, the first two episodes of "P.O.S. Is Ruining the Current" are now posted online (March 30 here and April 6 here). Where else are you going to hear Song of Zarathustra and Lifter Puller in the same radio hour as Big Pun, Black Milk and other "good rap with deep syllable placement," as newbie radio host Stef Alexander humorously puts it in the latter show? Proof he's not your average Current host, he starts off that second episode by blurting, "I don't care if you like it. It's my show." Perfect.
