Union upsets St. Cloud State
• UNION 4, ST. CLOUD STATE 1: The No. 10 Dutchmen (12-3-2) upset the Huskies (11-2-2) at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center. Union took a 2-0 lead in the first period on two power play-goals 74 seconds apart. Max Novak got the first one at 15:01, Eli Lichtenwald the second. Joey Benik had the only goal for the Huskies, rated No. 1 this week by the USCHO.com website and No. 2 by USA Today, in the middle of the second period on a power play. St. Cloud State had a seven-game unbeaten streak ended.
• NORTH DAKOTA 4, NORTHERN MICHIGAN 1: Luke Johnson and Dillon Simpson scored power-play goals in the second period to give UND (8-7-2) a 3-0 lead over the visiting Wildcats (6-9-2).
• WESTERN MICHIGAN 5, MINNESOTA DULUTH 3: Colton Hargrove scored two goals to lead the Broncos (7-7-3, 3-4-0 NCHC) past the Bulldogs (6-8-1, 2-5-0) at Amsoil Arena. Chase Balisy and Justin Kovacs each had a goal and an assist for the visitors. UMD led 2-1 after the opening period on goals by Justin Crandall and Sammy Spurell, and 3-2 in the second after Kyle Osterberg scored at 3:39.
• WISCONSIN 4, COLORADO COLLEGE 1: Nic Kerdiles' power-play goal with two seconds left in the middle period was the winner for the No. 15 Badgers (7-5-1) at the Kohl Center.
• MSU MANKATO 4, ALABAMA HUNTSVILLE 1: Jean-Paul Lafontaine's power-play goal early in the third period for the Mavericks (10-7-0, 8-3-0 WCHA) broke a 1-1 tie with the host Chargers (1-16-0, 1-10-0).
• ALASKA FAIRBANKS 3, BEMIDJI STATE 3 (OT): The Beavers (5-8-6, 5-4-4 WCHA) tied for the third game in a row, this time against the visiting Nanooks (6-8-3, 3-7-1). Matt Prapavessis of Bemidji State
scored the tying goal with 1:40 left in the third period.
