February 25, 2015 at 12:03PM

A fire Tuesday evening destroyed a house in Blaine, left a woman in critical condition and uprooted a family of 12.

Firefighters arrived shortly after 6:30 p.m. at the home in the 9700 block of Austin Street NE. and found the house engulfed in flames.

The woman, who suffered burns, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, said Dan Retka, battalion fire chief with the Spring Lake Park-Blaine-Mounds View Fire Department. No one else was injured, he said.

The family has moved in with relatives, Retka said.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
