Karetov selected as high school principal

Joann Karetov, currently principal of Columbia Heights High School, has been selected to become the new St. Louis Park High School principal, pending successful contract negotiations.

She has three years of experience as a high school principal and eight years as a high school assistant principal. She will begin working in St. Louis Park next Monday.

This spring, current high school Principal Robert Metz was selected to become the next superintendent for St. Louis Park Public Schools.

St. David's Center, Vikings host tourney

St. David's Center for Child and Family Development, together with John Randle and the Minnesota Vikings, will host the inaugural "Tee Up for Tomorrow" golf tournament on Monday, July 15, at Hazeltine National Golf Club.

NFL Hall of Fame inductees Randle and Paul Krause will anchor two foursomes to raise funds for St. David's Center. The tournament benefits the St. David's Center Building Our Children's Future Capital ­Campaign, which is trying to raise $12.25 million for early education and intervention services.

The event includes a day of golf, a silent auction and an ­evening cocktail reception with an awards cere­mony. Event details and sponsorship information can be found at www.stdavidscenter.org/golf.

Eden Prairie

District hires new director of assessment

Donna Roper has been hired as the Eden Prairie School District's new director of assessment, replacing Brett Lobben, who moved to the associate principal position at Forest Hills Elementary School.

Roper has been the information technology specialist for Minneapolis Public Schools since May 1998. She also served as the student information supervisor and demographer for Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District.

Roper has a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Minnesota. She starts her new job in July.
