Even though they didn't work much during the Grammy eligibility period, the locked-out Minnesota Orchestra and the now-back-at-work St. Paul Chamber Orchestra landed Grammy nominations.

Osmo Vänskä and the Minnesota Orchestra are vying for best orchestral performance for "Sibelius: Symphonies Nos. 1 & 4" on the Bis label.

The SPCO is recognized for its collaboration with soprano Dawn Upshaw and composer/conductor Maria Schneider, a native of Windom, Minn., for "Winter Morning Walks" on ArtistShare. Upshaw is nominated for best classical vocal solo and Schneider for best contemporary classical composition.
