A home south of Bemidji, Minn., was engulfed in flames Tuesday night, and a 79-year-old woman and her son were found dead inside.

The blaze occurred about 7:30 p.m. on Beltrami Line Road in Helga Township, according to the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office.

Dead inside the home northeast of Lake Plantagenet were the woman and a 57-year-old man. They were identified as Phyllis E. Kleeb and Frank W. Kleeb, said Deborah Kessinger, one of Phyllis Kleeb's five children.

A cause for the fire, which destroyed the single-story home, remains undetermined. County property records show the home was owned by Phyllis Kleeb and her husband, Floyd, who died in 2011.

Firefighters were on the scene in subzero weather for many hours. A Bemidji School District bus was brought in to allow fire personnel to warm up.
