Showers and thunderstorms will be widespread and heavy from parts of thesouthern Plains through the Ohio Valley this weekend as a front stalls acrossthe region. The big problem with this situation is the fact that the thunderstorms willline up parallel to the steering winds. This will cause thunderstorms to moveover the same areas through Sunday, which will lead to pockets of persistent, heavy rainfall.

The heavy rainfall will lead to flash flooding across low-lying and poordrainage areas. Farm fields might also end up looking like large ponds due tothe excessive rain.
