United FC star suspended

Minnesota United FC forward Pablo Campos was suspended for one match by the North American Soccer League on Wednesday for a postgame incident after United's 3-2 victory last Saturday against the San Antonio Scorpions in Texas.

Scorpions midfielder Kevin Harmse will be suspended for six matches and forward Esteban Bayona two for the same incident. Campos, Harmse and Bayona also were fined.

• The Gophers game against Ohio State at 5 p.m. and the Wild's game against Dallas at 8 p.m. will cap Hockey Day Minnesota, which will be played Jan. 18. There will be three outdoor high school games played at "The Handke Pit" in Elk River as well: Rochester Lourdes vs. Cloquet/Esko/Carlton (boys) at 10:15 a.m.; Elk River vs. Stillwater (boys) at 1 p.m. and Elk River vs. Anoka (girls) at 4 p.m.

• Kelly Catlin of Arden Hills was named to the U.S. junior women's team for the UCI road cycling world championships in Toscana, Italy. Catlin will compete in the road race and the time trial at the event, which runs from Sept. 22-29.

• The new team of Steve Foster, Denny Schueller, Richard Horst and Tom Rolhoff held on to their first-round lead to win the 21st MGA Net Team Championship on Wednesday by one stroke with net score of 133 and 135 for a 20-under par 268 total. The event was held at The Pines Golf Course in Nisswa, Minn.
