Unplugged: scoreboard at Target Center

Is this a sign of things to come?

Video and images emerged Wednesday of the current Target Center scoreboard being lowered to the arena floor for a final time, removed permanently to make way for much-needed change. It's part of a massive $129 million full-arena renovation.

The official Target Center Twitter account sent out a tweet noting, "Happening now: Removing the old video board! New board coming soon."

The new scoreboard will feature four 18x33-foot video display boards, which the project details call "the largest center-hung arena scoreboard in the Upper Midwest."

The last time Target Center updated its arena scoreboard — replacing individual Brady-Bunch style screens — the Timberwolves advanced to the Western Conference finals the following summer.
