Vikings: Edge rusher Andrew Van Ginkel worked on the side with the Vikings’ injured players during Friday’s practice in Dublin and won’t play Sunday against the Steelers. Van Ginkel had returned from a neck injury and concussion to play eight snaps last Sunday against the Bengals, but his neck injury kept him from practicing all week.
In addition to Van Ginkel and McCarthy, the Vikings ruled out quarterback J.J. McCarthy (ankle), left guard Donovan Jackson (wrist) and tight end Ben Yurosek (knee) Blake Brandel will start for Jackson. Center Ryan Kelly, who missed last Sunday’s game with a concussion, was a full participant in practice all week and carries no injury designation into the Steelers game. Christian Darrisaw and Harrison Smith also don’t have injury designations.
Steelers: Linebacker Alex Highsmith will miss his second game in a row with an ankle injury. Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. (hamstring), running back Jaylen Warren (knee) and tight end Jonnu Smith (hip) were listed as questionable. They were limited in practice most of the week.
