The Gophers football program on Tuesday received a commitment from George Rohl, a tight end from Ellsworth, Wis., who previously had pledged to North Dakota.
Rohl, 6-foot-6 and 230 pounds, is a three-star recruit who is ranked as the 16th-best player in Wisconsin and the 129th-best tight end nationally in the 2026 recruiting class by the 247Sports composite ratings of major recruiting services.
Rohl committed to North Dakota in late March. He made an unofficial visit to Minnesota for Saturday’s game against Rutgers, received a scholarship offer and announced his decision on the X platform Tuesday.
Northern Iowa also extended an offer to Rohl, while Wisconsin and Iowa State showed interest but did not offer a scholarship.
The addition of Rohl gives the Gophers 23 players who have committed to their 2026 recruiting class. Minnesota’s class is ranked 10th in the Big Ten and 30th nationally in the 247Sports composite ratings.
