The hits keep coming for the Minnesota Twins, at least in concert terms.

A day after announcing an Aug. 5 date with Noah Kahan, Twins representatives unveiled another big live music date: country music mainstay Tim McGraw with two major-league opening acts, the Chicks and Lady A, on Aug. 23. The trifecta of twangy hitmakers is the third ticketed concert on deck at the Minneapolis ballpark in 2026, after a year without any.

Tickets for McGraw and Co. will first be available via an artist presale starting Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster.com, where there will be a Citi credit card presale on Feb. 5 before the general on-sale on Feb. 6. Two newer acts, 49 Winchester and Timothy Wayne, will open the Sunday show.

McGraw is heading up a 33-city stadium trek this summer billed as the Pawn Shop Guitar Tour, so named because he also has a new single coming titled “Pawn Shop Guitar.” An enduring favorite in country music, the 58-year-old Louisiana native has history at Target Field: He and Kenny Chesney co-headlined the first concert at the Twins’ ballpark in 2012. He last played in town in 2024 at Xcel Energy Center.

Having the Chicks in tow is an interesting twist for McGraw. The Texas twangers formerly known as the Dixie Chicks still have something of a stigma in mainstream country music circles going back to 2003, when singer Natalie Maines said they were “ashamed” of President George W. Bush at the outbreak of America’s second invasion of Iraq.

The Chicks have maintained their own strong fan base outside of Nashville, though. Their last three concerts in town at the Minnesota State Fair grandstand in 2023 and 2016 all sold out quickly.

Target Field has a good chance of seeing at least two sold-out concerts in 2026, counting the newly announced Kahan date. The ballpark will also play host to revived early ’00s emo-rock darlings My Chemical Romance the day after McGraw on Aug. 24, making for a nice twofer. The Twins grounds crew will only have to cover the grass once for both shows while the home team is out in California playing the Padres and Athletics.
