St. Norbert wins Division III hockey crown

Cody Keefer scored two goals and Nick Tabisz put St. Norbert (Wis.) up for good late in the second period as the Green Knights edged Adrian (Mich.) 4-3 to win the NCAA Division III Frozen Four on Saturday night at Ridder Arena.

Johan Ryd also scored for St. Norbert (25-4-1), which lost to Norwich in last year's national title game.

Sam Kuzyk, Kyle Watson and Eric Miller scored for the Bulldogs (25-4-1).

U wins pitchers' dual Sarah Moulton struck out 15 in a three-hit shutout and Alex Davis hit a two-run homer as the Gophers opened the Big Ten softball season with a 2-0 victory over Indiana on Saturday at Bloomington, Ind.

Moulton got the victory against the Hoosiers' Morgan Melloh, who fanned 12 to move into 11th on the NCAA career list. Melloh allowed only one hit, but it was Davis' first-inning home run that improved the Gophers to 19-13 and dropped Indiana to 18-13.

Etc. • Saturday night's Gophers baseball game at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Calif., was canceled because of rain. The teams will play the series finale at noon today.

• The Gophers men's golf team fell three spots to seventh place through two rounds of the FAU Spring Break Championship in Delray Beach, Fla.

Minnesota shot a 5-over-par 293 on Saturday and has a 9-over 585 total. Ohio State holds a 16-stroke lead over second-place DePaul entering Sunday's final round.

The Gophers' Donald Constable is in an eighth-place tie at 2-under 142 after shooting a 1-over 73 on Saturday. Jon Trasamar shot a 74 and is tied for 14th at 144. Erik Van Rooyen shot a 69 and is tied for 17th at 145.

• The Gophers women's golf team tied for fifth place in the Mountainview Collegiate Invitational in Tucson, Ariz. Minnesota shot a 10-over 298 in Saturday's final round to finish at 19-over 883. Iowa State won the tournament at 857.

Teresa Puga was the Gophers' top finisher, closing with a 74 to tie for 12th at 2-over 218. Mary Narzisi tied for 19 at 219

• The Gophers men's tennis team didn't lose a set on its way to a 7-0 victory over Denver at the Baseline Tennis Center. Minnesota, ranked No. 22, improved to 11-2.

• The Gophers-Iowa rowing dual on Saturday in Iowa City was canceled because of inclement weather. The next action for the Gophers will be April 9 at the Big Ten Double Duals against Michigan and Michigan State in East Lansing.
