A Minneapolis man who fatally stabbed his roommate in the neck over a $15 debt has received a 30-year term.
Sincir Malik Porter, 22, was sentenced Feb. 19 in Hennepin County District Court after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in connection with the killing on July 6 of Abdirahman Adan Abdirahman, 25, of Minneapolis, in a residence in the 4900 block of Hiawatha Avenue.
With credit for time in jail since his arrest, Porter is expected to serve about 19⅓ years in prison and the balance on supervised release.
Officers arrived at the scene shortly after 5 p.m. and saw Abdirahman with stab wounds, and blood on the floor and walls. Emergency medical responders took him to HCMC, where he died.
Police recovered a bloodied knife near the entrance to the home.
Surveillance video from inside the residence captured the two men “arguing over $15.00. [Porter] stabbed the victim one time. ... [Abdirahman] appeared to get in a fighting stance before he realized he had been stabbed and collapsed to the ground.”
Soon afterward, police found Porter and arrested him about a half-mile to the south in the 5300 block of 46th Avenue S.
