An argument over a little bit of cash preceded one roommate fatally stabbing the other in a south Minneapolis home, according to a criminal complaint.

Sincir Malik Porter, 21, was charged Tuesday in Hennepin County District Court with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the killing of Abdirahman Adan Abdirahman, 25, of Minneapolis, who suffered a stab wound to the neck Sunday in a residence in the 4900 block of Hiawatha Avenue.

Porter remains jailed in lieu of $1 million bail ahead of a court appearance Wednesday. Court records do not list an attorney for him.

According to the complaint and police:

Officers arrived at the scene shortly after 5 p.m. and saw Abdirahman with stab wounds, and blood on the floor and walls. Emergency medical responders took him to HCMC, where he died.

Police recovered a bloodied knife near the entrance to the home.

Surveillance video from inside the residence captured the two men “arguing over $15.00. [Porter] stabbed the victim one time. ... [Abdirahman] appeared to get in a fighting stance before he realized he had been stabbed and collapsed to the ground.”

Soon afterward, police found Porter and arrested him about a half-mile to the south in the 5300 block of 46th Avenue S.

“‘Yeah, you got me,’” the complaint quoted Porter as saying to an officer.

Porter later admitted to the stabbing and “discussed how he had thought about killing [Abdirahman] and his other roommates in the past,” the complaint read.

There have been 30 homicides in the city this year, according to a Star Tribune data base. That compares to 37 this time last year in Minneapolis.
