Minnesota created a medical cannabis program in 2014 and legalized recreational use in 2023.
The rollout of the recreational cannabis market in Minnesota has been slow-moving. A handful of tribally owned dispensaries have been operating in Minnesota since 2023, selling recreational marijuana products to adults 21 and older. Last summer the state Office of Cannabis Management began issuing the first licenses to cannabis businesses.
Two companies — RISE and Green Goods — which provide marijuana to patients enrolled in the state’s medical cannabis program are now selling recreational cannabis products at all of their locations. The state does not collect taxes on medical cannabis products.
On Sept. 16, Legacy Cannabis in Duluth became the first state-licensed business to sell cannabis flower.
Use the map below to see every business authorized by the state or one of Minnesota’s tribal nations that is currently selling recreational or medical marijuana. Note that some adult-use marijuana stores also sell medical cannabis. Use the search field to filter by company name or city. Only retailers that are licensed and open for business are included.
As the industry rolls out, we’ll update the map so you can see where cannabis dispensaries are opening across Minnesota.
Do you know about a cannabis retailer we missed? If it’s open for business (or opening soon) with adult-use cannabis products available, please use the form at the end of this article to tell us about it.
