Minneapolis police are investigating a shooting late on Feb. 24 at an apartment complex that left a man dead.

Shots were reported shortly before 10:45 p.m. at the Abbott Apartments complex on E. 18th Street, not far from Stevens Square Park.

No arrests have been made. Police said an altercation led to the deadly violence.

“Another life has been lost to senseless gun violence,” Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said in a statement. “We are asking anyone with information about this incident or the identity of those involved to come forward and assist investigators.”

The man’s death comes a day after a man who had been released from jail went to a home in north Minneapolis and shot two members of his own family, according to police. The victims, who are brothers, have been identified by a source familiar with the investigation as Xavier Barnett, 14, and Akwane Davron Shaquelle Stewart, 23.

The shooter, identified as Eddie Darren Duncan, 23, of Minneapolis, later died during a shootout with Brooklyn Center police.
