Gophers aiming to build new streak

Preview: Eastern Michigan (2-4) brings a four-game losing streak into the first-ever meeting between the two teams. The Eagles, playing their fifth of eight consecutive road games after opening the season with two victories at home, lost to Denver and Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles last weekend. The Eagles, who were 6-25 last season, have nine new players (four transfers and five freshmen) on their 14-player roster. The Gophers (7-1) will try to rebound from their first loss of the season; they fell 88-83 at North Carolina on Wednesday.

Players to watch: Eagles junior G Danielle Minott is averaging 13 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Freshman G Courtnie Lewis is averaging 12.3 points. G Esabelle Levine, from Eden Prairie, is averaging 4.4 points per game. Levine started 15 games last season as a freshman. Gophers G Gadiva Hubbard has scored 25 points in two of the Gophers' past three games and is averaging 15.1 point. C Jessie Edwards has 28 rebounds in the Gophers' past two games and is averaging 7.6 rebounds per game.

Numbers: Edwards has 91 blocks in her career and is two behind Katie Loberg for seventh place on the Gophers' career list … North Carolina shot 50 percent from the field against the Gophers on Wednesday. It is the only team to shoot better than 43 percent against this Gophers this season.
