The State of Hockey's talent will be well-represented at the Frozen Four by Minnesota Duluth. The Bulldogs' roster features 16 Minnesotans from across the state.
The talent also extends to the three other teams competing for a national championship at United Center in Chicago this weekend. In total, 29 Minnesotans are on Frozen Four rosters.
Notre Dame has seven Minnesota natives, Denver has four and Harvard two.
Four of Duluth's top-five scorers are from Minnesota. Adam Johnson has 38 points (18 goals, 20 assists), Joey Anderson has 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists), Neal Pionk 32 points (eight goals, 24 assists), and Dominic Toninato 26 points (16 goals, 10 assists). Their star goaltender Hunter Miska is also a Minnesotan.
Edina High School continues to funnel its stars to Notre Dame. Four former Hornets – Dylan Malmquist, Bo Brauer, Connor Hurley, Ben Ostlie – play for the Fighting Irish. Malmquist is Notre Dame's sixth-best scorer with 10 goals, 13 assists. Jordan Gross from Maple Grove is Notre Dame's top-scoring defenseman with 10 goals, 11 assists.
Defensemen Blake Hillman and Matt VanVoorhis have appeared in almost every game for Denver this season. Hillman is also among the team's best shot blockers with 46.
Jake Horton and Jacob Olson are regulars in Harvard's lineup.
So be on the lookout for plenty of Minnesota talent on the ice during college hockey's final weekend of the season.
