Area football: St. Cloud State drubs Moorhead behind Walker

While its chances of claiming the NSIC championship outright were derailed at Bemidji State last week, St. Cloud State rebounded Saturday with a 47-14 drubbing of Minnesota State Moorhead in St. Cloud.

Michael Walker scored the first three Huskies touchdowns on runs of 1, 6 and 4 yards, and he finished with 73 rushing yards.

Winona State 27, Wayne State 24: Rayon Simmons' 1-yard touchdown plunge on fourth-and-goal with 24 seconds remaining lifted the Warriors on the road. Simmons rushed 37 times for 187 yards and the game-winning score.

Bemidji State 31, Minnesota-Crookston 12: Quarterback Lance Rongstad powered the Beavers to the road victory with his feet, rushing for 162 yards and two scores. Brandon Miles finished with 103 yards rushing and a touchdown for Bemidji State.

Concordia (St. Paul) 60, Southwest Minn. State 53: The Golden Bears aerial attack excelled inside the Metrodome behind Spencer Ohm's 482 yards passing and seven touchdown passes. Receiver Charles Gilbert caught five passes for 156 yards and three scores while Cordell Smith caught two TD passes totalling 100 yards.

Northern State 39, Mary 36: Felipe Alfaia's 35-yard field goal as time expired lifted the Wolves in Aberdeen, S.D.

Augustana 38, Upper Iowa 7: Vikings quarterback Josh Hanson passed for 306 yards and three touchdowns.

UMAC St. Scholastica 48, Eureka 7: In only its fourth season of existence, the St. Scholastica football program quickly has ascended the ranks, completing a 10-0 regular season in Eureka, Ill. Alex Thiry paved the way yet again, passing for 199 yards and four touchdowns.

MacMurray 43, Crown 32: Crown's Amos Schmidt rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns in defeat.

WIACWisconsin-Eau Claire 27, Wisconsin-River Falls 21: Bluegolds quarterback Austin Neu passed for 231 yards and two scores to Austin Goetsch in River Falls.

Wisconsin-Oshkosh 35, Wisconsin-Stout 3: Titans senior wide receiver Garrie Fox caught seven passes for 93 yards and three touchdowns.

Wisconsin-Whitewater 17, Wisconsin-La Crosse 3: The No. 1-ranked Warhawks were led by senior quarterback Matt Blanchard's 269 passing yards and one touchdown.

Wisconsin-Platteville 51, Wisconsin-Stevens Point 7: Pioneers quarterback John Kelly passed for 289 yards and four touchdowns.
