Who’s running for state and federal office in Minnesota in 2026?

A look at the candidates running for the top offices in Minnesota as the state gears up for a busy midterm election cycle.

Most of Minnesota’s major political offices are up for grabs next fall.

The 2026 midterm ballot will include all of Minnesota’s statewide offices, from governor to state auditor, as well as an open race for the U.S. Senate. The state’s eight seats in the U.S. House are also on the ballot, including an open contest for the competitive Second District that’s attracting a crowded field of candidates.

The list of people running could shrink after the Democratic and Republican parties hold endorsing conventions next spring, but many candidates may continue on to the state’s August primary election. That’s when voters will select the final nominees for each party to appear on the November general election ballot.

Until then, here’s a regularly updated list of candidates who have announced they’re in the running for state or federal office next year:
