UnitedHealth Group shareholders approve board nominees

The nation's largest health insurer held an exceedingly brief annual meeting this week.

UnitedHealth Group shareholders met Monday in Las Vegas, and elected all those nominated to the company's board of directors.

Go here to read the names, which include long-serving board members Richard Burke and Gail Wilensky.

Shareholders also approved United's executive compensation plan, and the appointment of an accounting firm.

The meeting lasted about 15 minutes, and included comments from chief executive Stephen Hemsley about four pilot programs meant to redefine the health care experience.

Among other things, Hemsley said: "We're testing how to increase compensation to front-line employees based on their accomplishments in elevating and preserving exceptional performance metrics."

Also on Monday, UnitedHealth Group was named again to the annual Fortune 500 list, holding down the #6 position. Go here to read more.
